Books / No. 03
The daily mobility block, in ten minutes.
Five hundred push-ups a morning and no comfortable deep squat is a completely normal combination. Strength and range are separate accounts, and this fixes the second one without touching the first.

How it reads.
From Part One
Strength and range are separate accounts. You can pay into one for twenty years and never touch the other, and nothing about the first will warn you that the second is empty.
It shows up the day you drop your keys under the car, or reach for the top shelf and feel your ribs move instead of your shoulder.
Ten Minutes on the Floor, Part OneHonestly
Who this is for.
You are strong and you cannot sit in a deep squat
You sit for a living and the first ten minutes of the morning are the worst ten minutes of the day
You want the cheapest, fastest rung on the whole standard
And who it is not for.
You want a workout. Ten minutes of floor work is not training and the book says so
You have a joint with structural damage. The sequence will get you every degree that is available and no more

Before you ask
Four questions.
Ten minutes cannot be enough, can it?
For range, ten minutes daily beats an hour weekly and it is not close. The thing that makes mobility work is frequency rather than intensity, which is exactly why the sequence is short and deliberately easy.
Do I need any equipment?
No. A floor, a wall, and bare feet. A folded towel and something waist high to hold are useful at the start and both go away, usually inside three weeks.
How long before anything changes?
Morning stiffness usually shortens in week two, a prop comes away in week three, and there is measurable range by week four. The book lays out that schedule up front, because week two is where almost everybody quits.
Will this help my back?
It is not written as a back programme and it does not claim to be one. What it does is give the hips and the mid back the range they are supposed to have, which is often where a back has been picking up the slack. If your back pain is sharp, runs down a leg, or wakes you at night, that is a doctor rather than a stretch.
