Training after fifty fails on food, not on effort.
Training after fifty does not usually fail in the gym. It fails on the two days after, in a body that was not given enough to rebuild with. This is the short set of rules that fixes that.

A page from it
How it reads.
From Part One
Get enough protein, spread across three or four meals rather than piled into dinner, and do not train hard on an empty tank two days running.
Almost everything else in nutrition is a rounding error next to those two things.
Eat Like You Train, Part OneHonestly
Who this is for.
You train and you are permanently sore, permanently tired, and progressing on nothing
You want to know the protein number and then stop thinking about it
You want a straight answer on supplements from somebody not selling any
And who it is not for.
You want a fat loss plan. That is a separate project with a separate lever and mixing them costs you muscle
You want macros, apps and a food scale. There is none of that in here
What it needs
The kit this book uses.

Before you ask
Four questions.
How much protein does a man over fifty actually need?
The book works from roughly your bodyweight in pounds as grams per day, or about one and a half to two grams per kilogram, split across three or four servings rather than piled into dinner. The splitting matters more after fifty because each meal has to clear a higher bar to do the same job.
Is creatine safe after fifty?
It is the most studied supplement in sport and the evidence base is not close to any other on the shelf. The book covers what it does and what to buy, and it also says plainly that if you take medication or have a kidney condition, this is a conversation with your doctor first rather than after.
Do I have to count calories?
No. The book asks you to count food properly for four days so you learn what your normal eating actually adds up to, and then stop counting and eat that way. Almost everybody is thirty to fifty grams short and almost nobody knew it before they looked.
Will this help me lose weight?
It is not written as a fat loss book and it says so in the first chapter. Fat loss is a separate project, and running both at once is how men over fifty lose muscle they will spend two years getting back.
